Gearing up to go back!
Submitted By Jodi Caughy on Wednesday, February 17, 2021
The Clearview Minor Hockey Executive is excited to announce we are once again able to return to hockey!!! We would like to thank our Clearview Canucks families for their patience and understanding as we transition through lock-down into red-zone restrictions.

You may have already noticed the ice schedule has already been posted starting this Saturday February 20, 2021 and will likely continue until the end of March 2021. Coaching staff will be reaching out to players over the next few days to advise of starting, confirming participation and reminding you about the process for returning back to the arena.

Please read the following; once again hockey will look different as no games or scrimmages are allowed - only skills and drills. Our goal is to provide a few more ice times for our players to have fun, work on their ever developing skills and get active!

Reminder we are volunteers working to make this a successful return to hockey and we are doing our best to try and follow the daily changes made by the government, local health unit and OMHA. Our priority is the health and safety of our Canucks players, staff and families. So, as we head back to the arena for the first time in 2021, we want to highlight some important changes that have taken place since the last time that you were last there…

SportsHeadz digital health screens are REQUIRED and MUST be completed, and a pass recorded prior to entry into the arena. Attendance will be recorded for all participants present (first and last name, contact number) during the ice session.

– Access into the arena will only be alloowed 15 minutes prior to the scheduled ice time. Main entrance doors will be locked by facility staff at scheduled ice time and no admission is allowed once doors are locked. We will continue to only use the Stayner Arena - Creemore Arena remains closed.

Participants must come to the arena dressed and ready to play. Skates, helmets, mouth guards and gloves can be put on in the designated chairs in the main lobby. No dressing rooms will be open. We recommend players/coaching staff bring a clean container/Ziploc bag to store their mask in while on the ice.**Goalies will have a designated area to dress and should come prepared to put on Pads, skates, and Chest Protector at the arena.

Entering is restricted to players, coaching staff and CMH executive ONLY. Parents are NOT permitted in the arena at this time. Should the colour-zone change over the next few weeks lessening restrictions, and Clearview Township allows, we may be able to have parents enter but there is no guarantee. Maximum capacity in the arena at any time is 25 people.

Masks must be worn at all times, except when on ice for players. On-ice coaching staff is strongly encouraged to wear masks if physical distancing of 2m cannot be maintained. Off-ice coaching staff must wear a mask in the facility. Maximum 10 players allowed on the ice and two coaching staff (one on-ice, one off-ice).

Water fountains and the canteen will remain closed. DO NOT bring any food into the arena and players are strongly encouraged to bring their own labeled PRE-FILLED water bottle to every session. Please remember to wash your water bottle regularly, and remind your player(s) not to share water bottles.

– Washrooms will be open in the main lobby however we strongly encourage players to use the washroom before arriving at the arena.

Exiting the arena, players will have 15 minutes after their ice session to remove gloves, helmet and skates. Masks must be put on once they leave the ice surface. The rest of their equipment will be removed after leaving the arena. Leave dressed as you arrived.

- We ask our Canucks parents/guardians to NOT loiter in the parking lot pre and post ice sessions. Please be considerate to the provincial outdoor gathering limits (25).

We need everyone – players, coaches, parents and guardians - to follow all these rules so we can keep our teams safe and on the ice.

If parents/guardians have questions about the above protocols or ice-time over the next few weeks, feel free to connect with any of your coaching staff and/or the CMH Executive members. Again, we remind you this is another learning curve for all of us – CMH Executive, Coaching Staff, Players, Families and Town Staff; we all need to work together to make this return to hockey and remainder of the 2020/2021 season successful! Modifications may be necessary as Provincial restrictions change. We ask that our Canucks families remain flexible and positive – our goal is to get our players safely back on the ice and be active in the game they love! So, dust off your equipment, check to make sure it still fits and let’s get ready to hit the ice!!!

Let’s go Canucks!!!
